Mark Bowell, Blake’s father, stated “Blake took on his challenge with dignity and a level of faith that touched many people throughout his journey. With the BlakeStrong fund, we focus on helping even more lives by donating to initiatives Blake cared about.”
Lakin Bowell, Blake Bowell’s sister shared “The BlakeStrong fund is important because it raises money for both community causes and to help fight a disease that is so under-funded. I hope to see a blend of ages and people having fun at BlakeStrong Fest while supporting the community, cancer research and scholarships.”
Proceeds from the July 28 event will benefit the BlakeStrong fund, the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, and an improved children’s garden at Garfield Park.
The redesign increases the visibility of the garden—now named “Blake’s Garden”—while streamlining maintenance needs for staff and increasing program opportunities. The concept introduces a defined entry point, an outdoor classroom, a new water feature, and improved community and specialty gardens.
