Fountain Campaign

More than 100 years ago, Garfield Park was home to the first municipal
park fountains in the nation to have electric color lights that were
synchronized to music. Within the Sunken Garden, park goers enjoyed a
tranquil green space just out of reach of the hustle and bustle of the city.

However, over the years, the care and maintenance to keep the fountains
operational has faced many challenges. Until recently, many park goers
may not have ever known water flowing through the fountains.

Our recent restoration brought the fountains back to life, but we need your
help to keep the fountains center stage in our beloved park.

When you make a gift to support the sustainability of the Garfield Park
fountains, you are leaving a legacy for park goers for the next 100 years.

Thank you for joining us to create a memorable experience for all park
visitors.

Support History for a Sustainable Future

Spring 2026 marks the completion of Phase 1 of the campaign—
fountain restoration. If you were able to make a gift to the
reconstruction, we thank you for your support and commitment
to a recreating memorable experience for Garfield Park.

When the fountains turn on this spring, the Friends of Garfield
Park will kick off Phase 2 of the fountain campaign—fountain
preservation
. Phase 2 is a crucial piece to the sustainability of
the fountains, and ensures they remain a vibrant centerpiece to
Garfield Park through quality care.

Every gift—no matter the size–helps to ensure the fountains
remain our park’s treasured centerpiece for the next 100 years.
